Annual Shoes for Shoes fundraiser currently underway
HUNTINGTON — Bella Consignment’s friends, customers and consignors have been busy collecting new and gently used women’s shoes for Bella’s annual Shoes for Shoes fundraiser.
Taking place now through Oct. 27, this sale features all types and styles of women’s shoes from sandals to boots, dressy to casual.
All of the proceeds from the sale of the shoes will be donated to Cabwaylingo Appalachian Mission to purchase shoes for children in the Dunlow area in rural southern Wayne County, 38 miles from Huntington.
“School vouchers provide for one pair of shoes for the school year. These shoes are either worn out or out-grown by January,” said Addie Likens, youth director with the Mission. “Last year Bella Consignment’s Shoes for Shoes Fundraiser provided the funds to take 40 children shopping. They were able to buy shoes and socks.
“Approximately 80 percent of our children live at or below the poverty level. We are grateful for the support,” Likens said.
The fundraiser includes a great selection of new and very gently used shoes in sizes 4 1/2 to 11. Brands include Coach, Sketchers, Franco Sarto, Cole Haan, Merrell, Lucky Brand and more. Styles include clogs, sandals, heels, boots, casual wear and flats.
“We rely on donations from our community. Their generosity is awe inspiring,” said Joanie Ward Smith, owner of Bella Consignment.
Shoes for Shoes Fundraiser is happening at Bella Consignment, 1104 20th St. in Huntington. Hours are 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Monday through Friday, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday.
