Rock & Roll Hall of Famers the Pretenders hit Hard Rock Rocksino in July

CLEVELAND, Ohio – Rock & Roll Hall of Famers Chrissie Hynde and the Pretenders return to Northeast Ohio with a Saturday, July 7, show at the Hard Rock Rocksino.

The band is touring behind “Alone,″ produced by Hynde’s fellow Akron native Dan Auerbach in Nashville and released in 2016.

The Pretenders’ self-titled debut album was released in 1978 and rose to No. 1 on the British charts and hit No. 9 here in the United States.

Hynde, a frequent visitor to her hometown and its surrounding cities, is just as dynamic today as she was when Jimmy Carter was president.

“For 90 minutes, Akron wrapped its Rubber City arms around their favorite daughter, and for good reason,″ I wrote in a review of a 2016 show at Akron’s E.J. Thomas Hall. “She hasn’t lost a step, and that distinctive voice remains one of the most iconic in rock ‘n’ roll.″

Tickets to the show, which will feature Britain’s the Rails as an opening at, are $57.50 to $89.50, plus fees, and go on sale at 10 a.m. Friday, March 23, at the box office, online at ticketmaster.com and by phone at 1-800-745-3000.
