Gamecocks Guard Fractures Hand
COLUMBIA, S.C. (AP) _ South Carolina sophomore guard Aaron Lucas will be out for an undetermined time with a fractured bone in his right hand.
Lucas was injured during Wednesday night’s 61-60 loss to No. 20 Vanderbilt, the fifth straight loss for the Gamecocks (9-10).
Lucas’ hand will be in a cast for 10 days then X-rayed to determine when he will play again, the school said Thursday.
``It’s always difficult to lose someone who is playing well, and Aaron is having a very good year to day,″ coach Eddie Fogler said. ``Injuries are a part of the game, however, and our team needs to get ready to play a very talented Tennessee team this weekend in Knoxville.″
Lucas, the Gamecocks’ fourth-leading scorer at 7.3 points per game, has not missed a game since arriving at South Carolina, starting all 19 this season and 37 of 38 as a freshman.
