A delicious crusty bread that practically makes itself

I love bread, and I especially love crusty, chewy artisan loaves fresh out of the oven. Too much work, you say? Not with my easy artisan bread. The only thing that is difficult about this recipe is remembering you need to start it early in the day.

You simply mix the ingredients together and then forget it for at least eight hours. After that, you shape it into a ball and bake it. This bread is perfect for soups, stews, and salads because it is very hearty and filling.

It also makes great French toast! Now that the weather is turning cold, what could be better than warm homemade bread? Warm homemade bread without all the work!

Belle’s Easy Artisan Bread

3 cups flour.

1 teaspoon salt.

½ teaspoon dry yeast.

1 ½ cups warm water.

Mix all ingredients together and then cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let sit at room temperature for 8 hours. On a floured surface turn out the dough and shape into a ball. Let rest for 30 minutes.

Heat oven to 450 degrees. Place a crock of round casserole dish into the oven for 10 minutes. Remove and spray with cooking spray. Place dough into dish and with a very sharp knife cut an X into the top of the dough. Cover dish with foil and bake for 30 minutes. Remove foil and bake another 15 minutes. Let cool before slicing.
