Possible tornadoes touch down in Oklahoma, no injury reports

June 17, 2019

WAYNE, Okla. (AP) — The National Weather Service says two possible tornadoes touched down briefly in Oklahoma with no injuries or significant damage reported.

Meteorologist Forrest Mitchell with the weather service in Norman says investigators hope to examine the areas Monday, one near Wayne about 40 miles (64 kilometers) south of Oklahoma City where a possible twister struck shortly before 6 p.m. Sunday and one near the unincorporated community of Omega, about 50 miles (80 kilometers) northwest of Oklahoma City where a suspected tornado occurred just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday.

Mitchell says both touchdowns were brief and apparently in open areas of farmland.
