Third base has become cold corner for Red Sox

Just how bad have things been for the Red Sox at the hot corner? Since Pablo Sandoval signed in 2015, the Sox are the only club in baseball to post a negative-WAR rating at third base, ranking 30th with -2.9 WAR at the position.

What’s worse is that Sandoval’s .646 OPS is the lowest by any Red Sox player to log at least 150 career games at third base in the post-war era. Bobby Reeves, who last played for the Red Sox in 1931, is the most recent one to fare worse than the Panda.
