Douglas Lewis “Doug” Beverly, 69, of Carrollton, Ky., died Friday, Sept. 8, 2017, at Norton’s Brownsboro Hospital in Louisville, Ky. He was born Sept. 7, 1948, in Owenton, Ky., to Chester Lee and Anna Katherine Stewart Beverly. He was a partner for many years in B&B Remodeling in Carrollton, Ky. He was a member of Hopewell Community Church. He is survived by one daughter, April Harmon of Carrollton, Ky.; two sons, Shawn Beverly and John Clapp, both of Carrollton, Ky.; one sister, Janice Spencer of Carrollton, Ky.; one brother, Jerry Beverly of Bedford, Ky.; and two grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife, Joyce Ann Beverly, who died in 2014; his parents; one sister, Freda Cottrell; and one brother, Robert Gene Beverly. The funeral will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday at Tandy-Eckler-Riley Funeral Home in Carrollton, Ky. Burial will be in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Carrollton, Ky. Friends may call at the funeral home Tuesday from 11 a.m. until the service. Expressions of sympathy may take the form of donations to Hopewell Community Church. Marilyn Jo Carson, 79, of Lexington, died Saturday, Sept. 9, 2017, in Scottsburg. She was born Dec. 16, 1937, in Lexington, to Jesse and Laura E. Copple Amos. She was a 1957 graduate of Lexington High School. She was a homemaker. She retired as a custodian from Lexington Elementary School. She was a member of the Lexington Christian Church, Scottsburg Order of Easter Star 107, American Legion Auxiliary and the Scott County Moose and Family Center 2324. She is survived by one daughter, Laura A. Carson of Lexington; one son, James W. Carson of Scottsburg; one brother, Maurice Amos of Lexington; one sister, Nana Jones of Scottsburg; and one grandson. She was preceded in death by her husband, William Carson; her father; her mother, Laura E. Copple Amos Lyle; four brothers, Frederick Amos, James Amos, Wilson Amos and Jesse L. Amos; and two sisters, Martha Alsup and Maysel Benge. The funeral will be at 1 p.m. Tuesday at Stewart & Hoagland Funeral Home in Scottsburg. Burial will be in Lexington Cemetery. Friends may call at the funeral home today from 4 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday from noon until the service. A memorial service will be conducted by Eastern Star at 7 p.m. today at the funeral home.
