Cleveland police searching for man who escaped from custody

CLEVELAND, Ohio -- Police are searching for a 28-year-old man who escaped from custody Saturday afternoon.

Antwoine Thomas, who is under arrest on a charge of receiving stolen property, escaped about noon, Cleveland police spokesman Det. Reginald Lanton said.

He was taken from Cleveland City Jail to MetroHealth Wednesday for medical treatment and escaped from custody Saturday, Lanton said.

He was last seen with no shirt, wearing black jogging pants with a white stripe down the side of the pant legs, police said.

Thomas has an “extensive” criminal history which includes violent crimes, Lanton said. He should be considered dangerous.

Anyone with information on Thomas’ whereabouts is asked to call 911.
