Winter blooms grace North Augusta

March 11, 2018 GMT

NORTH AUGUSTA — The Aiken Camellia Society marked the approach of winter’s end Saturday with help from about 10 growers, holding its annual North Augusta Camellia Show at Riverview Park Activities Center.

This year’s presentation included about 180 flowers in various shades and mixtures of white, pink and red, representing a flowering shrub that has its origins in eastern and southern Asia and typically blooms in the winter.

The top prize in this year’s show went to Kramer’s Supreme, a red bloom from the garden of Aiken resident Julia Leisenring.
