A man in a gray Nike hooded sweatshirt robbed the Wells Fargo bank branch on West State Boulevard of an undisclosed amount of cash Monday morning, Fort Wayne police said.

Officers responded about 9:35 a.m. to an alarm at the bank, 901 W. State Blvd., city police said in a statement.

It said a man entered the bank, passed a note to a teller demanding cash and indicated he was armed, although he never displayed a weapon.

The robber was given an undisclosed amount of cash and ran east from the bank, police said.

The robber is described as in his early 20s, white, and 5 feet 5 inches to 5 feet 8 inches tall. He was wearing the hooded sweatshirt, with bold black Nike lettering on the front with black sleeves, a black ball cap, blue denim jeans and black high-top athletic shoes.

Police released an image of the robber. Anyone who may have seen or recognizes him is asked to call police at 427-1201 or Crime Stoppers at 436-7867.

The robbery remains under investigation by city, county and Indiana State Police, the Bank Robbery Task Force, and the Allen County prosecutor’s office.
