Derby man faces weapon, drug charges after traffic stop
ORANGE — A Derby man faces weapons and drug charges after an arrest during a traffic stop earlier this month.
According to the Orange Police Department, on Jan. 19, police officers saw a vehicle driving erratically and performed a motor vehicle stop on Derby Avenue. Police said the vehicle was driven by Christian B. Quinn, 18, of Derby.
Upon stopping him, police allegedly discovered a strong smell of marijuana emanating from the vehicle and Quinn reportedly stated that he had marijuana in the vehicle. Police said a search of the vehicle resulted in officers finding a weapon, illegal narcotics, drug paraphernalia, and packaged controlled substances. Subsequently, Quinn was taken into custody and charged with having a weapon in a motor vehicle, two counts of having controlled substance, possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell and possession drug paraphernalia.
Quinn posted a $15,000 surety bond and is scheduled to appear in court Feb. 4.
