Bob Young Joins Silbo.ai Board of Directors

March 4, 2020 GMT

RALEIGH, N.C, March 4, 2020 /PRNewswire/ -- Silbo.ai, the leading global platform for sports officials and sports leagues, announced today the addition of entrepreneur and sports team owner Bob Young to its Board of Directors. In addition, Young has become an investor in Silbo. Young is the owner of the Canadian Football League’s Hamilton Tiger-Cats as well as Hamilton’s Forge FC, a founding team of the new Canadian Premier League, Canada’s top professional soccer league.

Brendan Szulik, co-founder and CEO of Silbo, shared, “From the outset, Silbo has disrupted the century-old sports officiating industry with AI-driven automation to improve athletics globally. Bob is a serial founder who wrote the playbook on taking disruptive technologies to market. We’re excited and honored to have his expertise on our board.”

Young explains his interest: “Sports, both amateur and professional, can only be played if competent officials are available. Silbo’s ability to organize and compensate officials is a global scale opportunity for Silbo and the leagues who rely on the company’s technology. It is the importance of Silbo’s mission that makes this such a fun project. The sports officiating industry needs vision, technology, and automation to continue to improve its ability to support amateur and professional sport participants, leagues, and spectators.”

Young has contributed to the success of a wide range of projects including Red Hat, the open source software company recently sold to IBM for $34 billion; Lulu, a print-on-demand, self-publishing company; and Precision Hawk, a commercial drone technology company. Young’s two sports franchises, the Hamilton Tiger-Cats and Forge FC, were runner-ups in 2019′s Grey Cup and the inaugural champions of the Canadian Premier League, respectively.
