Year of the woman... now what?
Make plans to attend a celebration of Women’s History Month on Tuesday, March 13, from 7 to 9 p.m. in the Wood River Room of the ISU Pond Student Union, 921 S. 8th Avenue.
ISU professors Dr. Kellee Kirkpatrick and Dr. Malliga Och will address “Women in Politics,” especially the “Year of the Woman,” and recent changes in women running for office. They will guide a panel discussion on the role of women in politics and running for office as a woman. Panelists include Donna Boe, former Pocatello City Council member, Mayor, and Idaho State Representative; Melanie Evans, Chubbuck City Council Member; Farhana Hibbert, Southeast Idaho Republican Women representative, and Sen. Mike Crapo’s Pocatello office manager; Linda Leeuwrik, Idaho Democratic Women’s Caucus District 6 Director, and Pocatello City Council Member.
This event is sponsored by the Idaho Humanities Council, the ISU Political Science Department, ISU Global Studies and Languages Department, and the Pocatello League of Women Voters. Pocatello women’s organizations including the Pocatello Branch of the American Association of University Women, and Zonta Club of Pocatello are sponsoring tables to display membership materials.
