NC fire death investigation leads to 2 grandsons’ arrest
JASPER, N.C. (AP) — Two teens have been arrested in connection with a fire that killed their grandmother in North Carolina.
News outlets cite a release from the Craven County Sheriff’s Office that says Marjorie Thompson was found dead in her home Monday, and a car was missing. Authorities issued a warrant for felony larceny for her 17-year-old grandson, who also lived at the home.
Investigators in North Carolina tipped off authorities in Mississippi that the teen could be at his brother’s house. The Lowndes County Sheriff’s Office arrested the teen and 19-year-old John Gizzi as they arrived at the residence in a stolen vehicle.
John Gizzi is charged with felony possession of a stolen motor vehicle.
Authorities are investigating possible arson and homicide charges. It’s unclear whether the teens have lawyers.
