Oldest Alligator in Captivity Dies
STOCKHOLM, Sweden (AP) _ Smiley, the world’s oldest alligator in captivity, has died at age 65 in a maritime museum in the western city of Goteborg.
Smiley fell ill about two weeks ago and died Monday, the Stockholm morning newspaper Dagens Nyheter reported.
She was born in Mississippi and brought to Goteborg in 1923 when the city celebrated its 300th anniversary. The Guinness Book of World Records listed Smiley as the oldest alligator in captivity.
