Firefighters Battling Flames Near Downtown Scranton
SCRANTON — Scranton firefighters are at the scene of a warehouse fire at Capouse Avenue and Poplar Street, across from National Bakery.
Assistant Fire Chief Jeff White said firefighters encountered heavy smoke and flames shooting from a third-floor doorway as all the employees escaped safely from the three-story building. The building is attached to Alum-A-Pole, which sells construction scaffolding, according to its website.
The fire was reported just before noon. A sprinkler system activated and helped extinguish the fire.
