Air Force General Dies At Age 44
TEL AVIV, Israel (AP) _ Brig. Gen. Asher Snir, who was head of the air force staff headquarters, died of cancer Sunday at age 44, the military command said.
Snir has held most command positions in the Israeli air force, including leader of squadron and wing formations and head of the pilot training school.
Snir downed 13 enemy planes during his career. He flew every type of plane in Israel’s arsenal, including French-made Mirage jets and U.S.-built Phantoms.
He is survived by his wife and two children.
