Police: Man barricaded in North Side home after firing shot

A man barricaded himself in a Stone Oak area home Tuesday night after San Antonio police said he fired a shot while officers were responding to a report of family violence.

SAPD spokeswoman Michelle Ramos said officers were called to the residence in the 800 block of Mandolin Wind at about 8:30 p.m. Tuesday.

A 40-year-old man walked outside and fired a shot as officers contacted two family members in front of the house, Ramos said.

“We’re not sure at this point if he fired at the officers or where he fired at,” Ramos said.

The officers moved the family away from the home and surrounded the house as the man ran back inside, police said.

Ramos said neither of the family members was injured.

A SWAT team along with a negotiator are at the home attempting to speak with the man, police said.

“Police have been called out to this location the past couple months, so police were familiar with this house,” Ramos said.
