Public works helps retrieve wedding ring from storm drain

SOUTH WINDSOR, Conn. (AP) — Officials in a Connecticut town say they helped a married couple retrieve a wedding ring that slipped off one of their fingers and into a drain.

Married couple Kayla Mikkelson and Jose Encarnacion says they were walking in South Windsor outside the daycare where they work last Friday when Encarnacion’s ring fell off his finger. Mikkelson tells WVIT-TV that Encarnacion’s ring is too loose because she bought a size too big.

They called police for help, who connected them to the town’s Public Works Department. A crew came out right away and used a special pumping technique to suck water out of the storm drain, helping them find the ring.
