Bridgeport FD responds to three-alarm fire

March 24, 2018 GMT

BRIDGEPORT —Bridgeport firefighters responded to a Federal Street residence that was fully engulfed in flames Saturday afternoon.

The fire was first reported around 11:25 a.m. at the residence at 270-272 Federal Street. When firefighters arrived, they found the second- and third-floors of the home fully engulfed in flames.

At least three separate stations have dispatched units to help extinguish the fire. Firefighters from Fairfield, Milford and Stratford are covering for Bridgeport personnel as they fight the blaze.

Reports suggest that firefighters are working to contain the fire to a single house, as third-floor flames threaten to spread to the house next door.

It is uncertain if there have been any injuries as a result of the fire or whether any residents were home at the time it began.

The cause of the fire is under investigation by the Bridgeport Fire Marshal’s Office.
