gets position

of leadership

Richard R. Silbert, M.D., D.L.F.A.P.A., was installed as vice president of the Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society

Silbert is the senior medical director at Community Care Behavioral Health Organization in Moosic. He is board certified in psychiatry and addictions psychiatry and is an associate professor of psychiatry at the Geisinger Commonwealth School of Medicine.

Silbert has held leadership positions in the Northeastern Pennsylvania Psychiatric Society and is a distinguished life fellow of the American Psychiatric Association. He serves as president of the Greater Northeast PA Chapter of the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention and is co-chair of a treatment committee part of a stop heroin/opioid overdose coalition.

High notes

Mark Chuck of Kingsley won Judges’ Choice for art work titled, Trout Yunomi, at the sixth annual Cup Show at the Jansen Art Center in Lynden, Washington.

The exhibit received 127 submissions from 49 artists from nine cities in Washington state, four cities in British Columbia and 10 states outside of Washington including: Alaska, California, Colorado, Louisianna, Massachusetts, Montana, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Texas and Virginia.

Chuck’s cup is one out of 101 cups accepted into the exhibit.

Super teachers

Teresa Roche was elected president during the Scranton Women Teachers’ Club Spring Installation of Officers Cocktail Party

Officers include: Stacey Shrive, president-elect; Marci McDade Barnansky, past president; Courtney Homick, first vice president; Marian Poveromo, second vice president; Kelly Davitt, corresponding secretary; Holly Scacchitti, recording secretary; and Deborah Coyle, treasurer.

The party was held at the Glen Oak Country Club on April 27.
