Preston rodeo sells out each night

August 3, 2018

PRESTON — That Famous Preston Night Rodeo Committee requested its patrons to dig in and donate for a new rodeo arena during the annual event, and fans did, said committe Chairwoman Kris Beckstead.

“The rodeo was great! It sold out, we had great comments. The fans loved the clown, ... the mother race, the specialty act ... and we had people handing us money from the audience,” she said.

The rodeo ran July 26 through Saturday at the Franklin County Fairgrounds in Preston.

Because of the heat, some of the animals were less interested in throwing their riders, which resulted in a few re-rides, and double the entertainment.

Local steer wrestler Judd Austin took down his animal in 8.5 seconds. Winners of the each event were:

Bareback: Kaycee Field, of Utah.

Steer wrestling: Jesse Brown and Mike McGinn, both of Oregon.

Team Roping: Jake Cooper and Logan Melin, of New Mexico.

Calf roping: Clint Robinson, of Utah.

Saddle bronc: Threeway tie between Chase Bennett, Allen Boore and Jake Wright, all of Utah.

Barrell racing: Hailey Kinsel, of Texas.

Bull riding: Dustin Boquet, of Louisiana.

Prize money taken home by rodeo winners totaled $82,584.
