Rochester man stabbed multiple times in fight
A 35-year-old Rochester man was stabbed Friday in a parking lot in the 1900 Block of 8½ Street SE in Rochester.
The man was reportedly stabbed multiple times in the chest and left shoulder at 7:35 p.m. after a fight with his assailant. The man was initially transported by car to Olmsted Medical Center, then taken by ambulance to Mayo Clinic Hospital — Saint Marys.
Interim Rochester Police Chief John Sherwin said that the victim was uncooperative when talking with police at the hospital, and that he refused to sign a medical release. The only thing the victim reportedly shared was that he was stabbed with what he described as a “cheap, Wal-Mart knife.”
Police say that the the man who was stabbed is expected to recover, and that there are indications the stabbing may be gang-related.
