Stipe Miocic on Brock Lesnar: ‘I am a bad match-up for him’

CLEVELAND, Ohio – UFC Heavyweight Champion Stipe Miocic may be getting ready for his July 7 superfight with Light Heavyweight Champion Daniel Cormier. But he can’t avoid questions about Brock Lesnar.

During an interview with Sports Illustrated, Miocic was asked what he thinks of rumors that current WWE Universal Champion Brock Lesnar may return to mixed martial arts.

“Brock is a former champ and he knows how to bring it,” said Miocic. “He’s tough, he’s very strong and beaten a lot of good guys, but I am a bad match-up for him.”

Miocic has been hit with questions about Lesnar ever since the Ohio-based champ won the UFC title. This, despite Lesnar losing two fights before returning to the UFC, defeating Mark Hunt and getting popped for using a banned substance in 2016.

If Lesnar does return to the UFC, he’d have to wait out a suspension for his violation. Meanwhile, Miocic isn’t losing any sleep over it ahead of his UFC 226 showdown with Cormier.

“I match up well with anyone,” said Miocic. “That has a lot to do with my coaches, teammates, and my training. I always have a good game plan walking in on the day of a fight. With Brock, I’d win, there’s no question. But right now, all I care about is fighting DC. That’s all I’m worried about.”
