SAN DIEGO (AP) _ San Diego Chargers offensive lineman Courtney Hall was cited by police for allegedly engaging in lewd conduct in public and soliciting a prostitute, authorities said.

Hall, 23, the club’s starting center, was released at the scene. The third- year veteran is scheduled to appear Dec. 17 in Municipal Court for arraignment on the misdemeanor charges.

Patrol officers spotted Hall in a parked car in the North Park area of San Diego with Anthony Thompson, 26, of San Diego, hours after the Chargers’ 20-9 loss at Seattle on Oct. 27, police spokesman Bill Robinson said.

Thompson, who was dressed in women’s clothing, was cited for engaging in lewd conduct in public, engaging in prostitution and cross-dressing for an unlawful act. His court appearance is scheduled for Dec. 18, said Robinson.

Hall, a second-round draft choice, started all 16 games at center his rookie year. He was switched to left guard for the 1990 season, again starting every game, before being moved back to center this season.

ADELAIDE, Australia (AP) - Australian Grand Prix officials said today that they hope future races can be scheduled later in November, reducing the risk of the event being washed out.

Rain has been a major factor in two of the last three races. Sunday’s race was abandoned with leader Ayrton Senna on only the 17th of 81 scheduled laps on the Adelaide street circuit. It was the shortest race in Formula One history.

Australian Grand Prix executive director Mal Hemmerling said the optimum time for the event would be the second or third weekend in November, when rain is less likely. Next year’s race, the final event of the 1992 season, is scheduled for Nov. 8.

Hemmerling said he was considering making a recommendation to FIA, international auto racing’s governing body, to push the date back further in 1993.
