Walk raises awareness, support for Lupus
Crowning Lupus, an Aiken based nonprofit, held its fourth walk to raise awareness for Lupus. The event was held Saturday at the H. Odell Weeks Activities Center, and a number of partiipants took to the track in support.
Lupus is a chronic autoimmune disease that can damage any part of the body, which means the immune system mistakes the body’s own tissues as foreign invaders and attacks them.
Jade Nealious, founder of Crowning Lupus, said there’s a need in the community for Lupus awareness and the foundation aims to raise that awareness and help Lupus survivors, and their families.
“Run Lupus and don’t let it run you or define who you are,” Nealious said. “You’re not alone.”
