California woman arrested on forgery charges
A California woman was released without bond Aug. 10 on charges of forgery and giving a false report to law enforcement. Naijah Yates, 18, of Moreno Valley, was arrested July 16 when she allegedly attempted to obtain cough syrup from a Havasu pharmacy with a forged prescription. Pharmacy employees contacted police when they discovered the prescription was fake, according to the report.
Police say when officers attempted to question Yates, she presented herself as a juvenile, and rendered a false name.
Yates was accompanied by 29-year-old Moreno Valley resident Leandre J. Parker, and an unidentified female. According to the report, Parker attempted to pick up the prescription on Yates’ behalf, and was also arrested on charges of forgery.
Yates is scheduled to appear in Mohave County Superior Court for a Sept. 21 pre-trial conference. Parker was not indicted.
