Granddaughter, 3 Others Charged In Edwardsville Slaying
EDWARDSVILLE — Four people have been charged with murdering a 71-year-old man on Wednesday, including the victim’s granddaughter, according to charges filed in court Thursday.
Joseph Monka was found dead in a home at 30 Arch St. after police were dispatched to the residence at 2:38 p.m. Wednesday.
Police on Thursday charged Monka’s granddaughter, 17-year-old Gabriella Elizabeth Long, of Edwardsville, with criminal homicide, conspiracy to commit murder, theft, unauthorized use of a vehicle and tampering with evidence.
Charged along with Long are Devin Malik Cunningham, 20, of Wilkes-Barre; Christopher Brian Cortez, 19, of Wilkes-Barre; and Mercedes Lin Hall, 16, of Kingston.
Court records show Long, Cortez and Hall are jailed at the Luzerne County Correctional Facility without bail after being arraigned by Magisterial District Judge James J. Haggerty overnight Wednesday.
Police have an arrest warrant charging Cunningham with murder and other charges.
