SWIMMING: Heritage’s Pierce Lively fourth in state prelims

Heritage senior Pierce Lively will swim in the finals of the GHSA Class 1A-5A Boys’ 100-yard breaststroke event on Saturday at the McAuley Aquatic Center on the campus of Georgia Tech.

Lively finished tied for fourth in the preliminaries on Friday, clocking in at 58.61 seconds along with Harrison Wayner of Savannah Arts Academy. Chamblee’s Liam Bell had the fastest qualifying time in the prelims at 56.54 seconds.

Lively also competed, but failed to advance, in the 100 butterfly. He was 16th in the prelims at 53.95.

The Heritage girls had swimmers in four events on Friday, but none were able to make it through to the finals.

Hannah Smith was 15th in the 100 freestyle prelims (54.95) and tied for 16th in the 50 freestyle (25.29).

Smith, along with Lexi Easley, Reagan Wingrove and Rylee O’Donnell, were 20th in the 200 medley relay with a time of 1:58.71, while Smith, Easley, Wingrove and Saulye Nichols placed 22nd in the 200 freestyle relay, finishing in 1:46.31.
