Two women — both of Stromsburg, Nebraska — were killed Friday in a head-on collision, the York County Sheriff’s Office said.

The women were identified as Brenda McCain and Jodi Miller. Their ages were not immediately available.

The crash occurred on U.S. Highway 81, a mile and a half north of Benedict, Nebraska.

McCain had been traveling south on the highway in a 1994 Ford Mustang, and Miller had been heading north in a 1995 Ford Windstar minivan, according to the Sheriff’s Office.

Both women were pronounced dead at the scene. The collision remained under investigation.
