$4.6M in work plan to dredge Hampton-Seabrook Harbor
HAMPTON, N.H. (AP) — The Army Corps of Engineers’ work plan for Fiscal Year 2019 includes $4.6 million to dredge the Hampton-Seabrook Harbor.
The New Hampshire congressional delegation has repeatedly called for the Corps to dredge the harbor. They say severe shoaling has made the water shallow and difficult to navigate.
Sen. Jeanne Shaheen said fishermen depend on the harbor, but the shoaling has become so extreme that they are unable to access open waters for several hours each day.
Sen. Maggie Hassan said the dredging project is critical to the commercial fishing industry and the state’s economy.
