Bourbonnais to add $1.8M lift station
By John Dykstra
BOURBONNAIS — Village trustees on Monday approved a $1.8 million bid to build a lift station that will connect the sewer interceptor that will serve a future business and industrial park at Bourbonnais Parkway.
M&J Underground Inc., of Monee, submitted the winning bid at $1,808,000. It had the lowest bid by about $39,000. Tyson Engineering, the village’s engineer, estimated the project would cost $1,844,546. Five companies — including three from Kankakee County — submitted bids.
The lift station will pump sewage through the northeastern part of the village. Bourbonnais has 18 lift stations.
“As flat as Illinois and Kankakee County are, there are still rises,” Mayor Paul Schore said. “That is a lower area. It’s part of the Rock Creek drainage area. So, we have to pump it back up the hill.”
Schore said the project will begin this fall as the 10.2-mile sewer interceptor project continues.
Dave Tyson, of Tyson Engineering, said the sewer interceptor project is about 65 percent complete.
