State orders health care company to maintain closed hospital
PAWTUCKET, R.I. (AP) — Rhode Island safety officials have ordered the owner of the shuttered Memorial Hospital to maintain the Pawtucket facility.
WJAR-TV reports Care New England will have to ensure the building won’t become an eye sore or fire hazard. The Rhode Island Fire Safety Code Board of Appeal and Review has ordered the health care company maintain the fire alarm and security systems.
Care new England took over the struggling hospital in 2013. The company closed the hospital in 2017 because of financial trouble.
