Bulldogs football coach Scott Hendrix tapped to be next principal at Cedartown High School

Polk School District announced in an afternoon press release that they’ve selected a new principal at Cedartown High School when Dr. Darrell Wetherington takes over as superintendent at the beginning of the year.

Head football coach Scott Hendrix was named the pick for the job following his selection following a "the consensus top choice of the interview committee which consisted of Dr. Darrell Wetherington, Mrs. Laurie Atkins, Mr. Greg Teems, Dr. Katie Thomas, Mr. David Robinson, Mrs. Julie Moilenan, and Mrs. Jill Dempsey."

The release stated all internal and several external candidates were interviewed in the process.

"Hendrix will do a fantastic job of sustaining and accelerating the Cedartown High School brand. He has a strong instructional background and really focuses on the job of dis aggregating data to drive instruction. Hendrix also exhibited strengths in managing budgets, ensuring school safety, working with the Polk County College and Career Academy, and building quality relationships," said Wetherington in the release.

He’ll take over the position on Jan. 1, following superintendent William Hunter’s retirement and Wetherington’s coming into the job. Hendrix will serve out the rest of the season as Cedartown’s head football coach, with a search to follow after the start of 2017.
