January 30, 2019

WATERLOO -- Waterloo’s Mutual Community Mission Group has received grant money from the United Cooperative to help fund the Groceries for Growth program which provides weekend food assistance for Waterloo Elementary K4, kindergarten and first-grade students in need.

Through its memberships and business with regional cooperatives, United Cooperative can provide matching fund dollars to community stewardship initiatives. The Groceries for Growth program qualified for funding through the matching dollars program, resulting in $500 donations from both United Cooperative and Land O’Lakes.

The Mutual Community Mission Group is grateful for this donation of money as it will support the continuation of the program for the remainder of the current school year and increase the feasibility of expanding the program for the 2019-20 school year.

MCMG also received donations from local businesses and community donors which include Piggly Wiggly, Regis Rubber, Neitzel Auto and Hardware, Crave Brothers Farm, Avestar Credit Union, Kwik Trip, Pederson Funeral Home, Kelsey Cow Belle Farm, American Family Insurance, St. John’s Lutheran Church, St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and donations of individual community members.
