Raleigh man charged with DWI, child abuse following Wake Forest crash
A Raleigh man is facing charges after he crashed into an historic building in Wake Forest Saturday afternoon.
Jerry Jerome Stallings, 31, of 6017 Shanda Drive, was charged with driving while impaired, felony child abuse and driving without a license.
Police said the vehicle Stallings was driving struck a brick building on the corner of Brewer and East Chestnut avenues Saturday afternoon.
Deputies who responded to the scene found Stallings unconscious behind the wheel and a 3-year-old inside the car.
Stallings and the child were taken to an area hospital for treatment. The child had cuts on the head and face from the crash, according to an arrest warrant.
Stallings was being held Monday in the Wake County jail under $50,000 bond. If he is released, he was ordered to not have any contact with anyone under age 18.
