GARDNER, Mass. (AP) — Walter Dubzinski Sr., a former pro football player who was long-serving high school coach in Massachusetts, has died at age 93.

His son, Walter Dbzinski Jr., said Saturday his father's health had been failing since a heart attack a month ago. He died on Friday.

Dubzinski played on Boston College's 1940 Cotton Bowl team and 1941 Sugar Bowl and national championship squad.

The Telegram & Gazette reports ( ) that he played two years in the NFL for the New York Giants in 1943 and Boston Yanks in 1944.

Dubzinski was a member of the Massachusetts High School Coaches Hall of Fame and Boston College Varsity Club Athletic Hall of Fame.
