Eastlake man accused of seriously injuring woman in assault

EASTLAKE, Ohio – An Eastlake man is accused of seriously injuring a woman and holding her against her will when she sought help, police said.

Michael Radovanic, 35, is charged with felonious assault and kidnapping in the Tuesday incident at a house on Plymouth Drive, police said.

A 37-year-old woman suffered serious injuries in the assault and was taken to a hospital for treatment, police said. The Eastlake Police Department did not disclose the woman’s injuries and could not provide an update on her condition Friday.

Investigators did not provide a motive for the assault. Radovanic would not let the woman leave the house when she wanted to go to a neighbor’s house for help, police said.

A magistrate set Radovanic’s bond at $25,000 during his arraignment Wednesday in Willoughby Municipal Court. He is scheduled to appear at a preliminary hearing Dec. 12, according to court records.

Radovanic remains in custody at the Lake County Jail, records show.

Radovanic has a lengthy criminal history that includes prior convictions for burglary, possessing heroin and attempted tampering with evidence, according to court records.

He is currently facing a burglary charge related to an Oct. 26 break-in at a house on Plymouth Drive in Eastlake, according to court records. His next court appearance in that case has not been scheduled.
