Reported armed robbery at Milford mall prompts pursuit

MILFORD — Police are reportedly investigating an armed robbery at the mall Saturday evening.

Dispatch reports for Connecticut State Police indicated that a male showed a silver or gray gun during a robbery at the Connecticut Post Mall around 7:45 p.m.

It was unclear what, if anything, was taken during the robbery and at what store in the mall it took place.

The suspect fled in a sport utility vehicle, reports indicated.

A full description of the suspect vehicle, which is being withheld by Hearst Connecticut Media to maintain the integrity of the investigation, was provided to local police.


The suspect vehicle was spotted soon after and a pursuit ensued. As of 8:05 p.m., state police and local police units were pursuing the suspect vehicle on Whalley Avenue in New Haven.

The pursuit reportedly ended with a crash with at least one person suffering injuries, though it was unclear how serious. Reports indicate there was possibly a child in the suspect vehicle.

As of 8:08 p.m., police had one person in custody on Bassett Street in New Haven.
