BANGOR, Maine (AP) — Sixteen Maine breweries are serving up suds at a new beer festival in Bangor.

The inaugural event, called Bangor's Beer Festival, is taking place from 1 p.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday on the Bangor waterfront. The event offers a variety of Maine brews, as well as food and entertainment.

VIP ticket holders will receive early entry to the event with special beers and lunch while spending time with brewers and beer bloggers Chris and Meredith Nelson, from www.thebeergeek.com .

The event is put on by the Greater Bangor Convention and Visitors Bureau, which is expecting between 1,500 and 2,500 people.
