Police seek robber in trail attack
Fort Wayne police are looking for a suspect in a recent armed robbery on the Rivergreenway on Fort Wayne’s south side.
At 1:44 p.m. July 17, officers responded to a reported robbery near Candelite Apartments. The victim told police that while she was walking her four dogs on the Rivergreenway, a man approached from behind, put a knife to her throat and demanded money. The man was last seen heading south toward Fairfield Avenue.
″(The victim) stated that her dogs got off their leash and that she was screaming for help,” a police report states. “She stated that one of her small dogs bit the male’s pant leg.”
When the attacker saw a bicyclist, police say he threw the victim to the ground and searched her for money.
The victim described the suspect as about 5-foot-9, white and wearing a black hooded sweatshirt and blue jeans. He had a large, straight-blade kitchen knife, the report said.
As of Wednesday afternoon, no arrests had been made, police spokesman Michael Joyner said.
