Ally to ex-mayor in upstate New York sentenced to probation
BINGHAMTON, N.Y. (AP) — Federal prosecutors say a former Albany County lawmaker has been sentenced to one year of probation for working with a former upstate New York mayor to steal campaign funds.
Ralph V. Signoracci IV was also sentenced to 100 hours of community service for conspiring with past Cohoes Mayor Shawn Morse.
A plea agreement says Signoracci withdrew more than $15,000 in campaign contributions and knew Morse would use the money for personal expenses. Authorities say those expenses included vacations, dining and home repairs.
Signoracci pleaded guilty to wire fraud conspiracy. Authorities also say he illegally used contributions to help Morse’s past campaign for mayor.
A message requesting comment was left for Signoracci’s attorney.
Morse, who pleaded guilty to wire fraud, will be sentenced in January.
