‘Half of the Yellow Sun’ to be discussed at library

March 19, 2018

Interested in joining a monthly book discussion group? Soul Collections hosts regular meetings from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. every fourth Thursday of the month at the Kankakee Public Library. Each book discussed in this group spotlights African-American authors and/or themes.

For the month of March, pick up a copy of, “Half of the Yellow Sun,” written by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie.

This book follows the lives of three characters swept up in the turbulence of a seminal moment in modern African history: Biafra’s impassioned struggle to establish an independent republic in Nigeria in the 1960s and the chilling violence that followed.

This discussion will be held March 22nd. Books will be available for pickup at the Kankakee Public Library’s circulation department.

This event is free and open to the public.
