McKinney, Lions Roll to a Non-league Win

Led by a strong all-around effort from Ashnasia McKinney, the Chelmsford High girls volleyball team made quick work of Stoneham, 3-0, on Friday.

The Lions won 25-7, 25-20 and 25-11.

Elsewhere, Shawsheen Tech fell to Salem, 3-1.

McKinney collected 11 assists, 5 digs, 7 aces and 3 kills.

Also standing out for Chelmsford were Bridget Didona with 7 kills, Grace Dionne and Sofia D’Agostino with 8 combined kills, and Leah Mathewson with 6 kills.

Despite the non-league loss, the Crusaders enjoyed a successful night -- they raised $445 for breast cancer awareness through a Dig Pink event.

Starring for Lowell Catholic were Madi Franz with 12 kills and 7 digs, Brenna Riley with 4 aces and 2 assists, and Maggie McGovern with 3 aces.

The Gryphons won by scores of 25-10, 25-16 and 25-14. Serving well for Greater Lowell was Maddie Kearns with 10 service points (6 aces).
