Oklahoma 101, Texas-Arlington 76

NORMAN, Okla. (AP) _ Tim McCalister and Harvey Grant scored 22 points each as No. 11 Oklahoma defeated Texas-Arlington, 101-76, in college basketball Saturday.

Oklahoma outscored the Mavericks, 19-2, during a three-minute, 20-second span to claim a 48-28 lead with 5:57 remaining in the first half. The Sooners led 56-37 at the half.

The Sooners, 3-1, dominated the defensive boards with 6-foot-10 center Stacey King and 6-9 forward Harvey Grant grabbing 12 rebounds each. Oklahoma had 53 rebounds to 37 for Texas-Arlington.

The Maveriks, 1-3, were led by Guard Danny Wojciak, who scored 16 points. Creason Hay had 15 points and Wayne Pavlik, 14.

Oklahoma’s surge late in the first half was led by King and Conley Phipps. King hit two field goals and two free throws. Phipps got two field goals on fast breaks. McCalister, Dave Sieger and Grant added a field goal apiece and Ricky Grace hit two free throws during the surge.
