Second annual Victor E. Ball set for April 29

February 18, 2017

The Victor E. Ball, a premier fundraising event benefitting student-athlete scholarships, moves on campus to the Kenneth and Ellen Chessick Practice Center April 29 as the second version of this inspirational celebration highlighting Northern Illinois University student-athlete success.

Fans, friends, alumni and members of the community are invited to join NIU dignitaries, Huskie head coaches and current student-athletes at what will be the first event of its kind ever inside the Chessick Practice Center.

The second annual Victor E. Ball gets underway at 5:30 p.m. with a cocktail reception and silent auction, hosted by Acquaviva Winery in the Barsema Hall of Champions adjacent to the Chessick Center. Guests will move into the indoor home of the NIU Huskies at 7 p.m. where Chicago comedian Adam Grabowski, the 2015 National Comic of the Year, will take charge of the program, which will include a five-course dinner.

Speakers at the event will include several current student-athletes, who will share their personal success stories and talk about the impact their athletic scholarships and NIU have had on their lives, and a special guest speaker to be announced at a later date. Video presentations and a live auction featuring Huskie greats Michael Turner and Jordan Lynch serving as celebrity auctioneers add to the fun before the evening concludes with dancing to music provided by D.J. Ray, a.k.a. NIU volleyball coach Ray Gooden.

Online registration for the event is open. Several different support opportunities also are available with all proceeds assisting NIU Athletics in its continuing commitment to providing the best possible experience for its student-athletes.
