TRENTON, N.J. (AP) — Authorities in New Jersey say four people were wounded and a child was struck by a dirt bike when gunfire broke out at a community event in Trenton.

Neighbors said the 8:30 p.m. Saturday shooting occurred at the end of an event in which back-to-school supplies were given to children. Lt. Stephen Varn said several people on dirt bikes and possibly all-terrain vehicles pulled up and opened fire.

Two men and a woman struck by gunfire were taken to Capital Health Regional Medical Center. Varn said a fourth victim found a few blocks away was also taken there and listed in critical condition.

Officials said one of the fleeing assailants struck a 7-year-old boy with a dirt bike. The child was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
