Murder mystery dinner to raise money for Marysville schools
Teachers and staff from Marysville schools will perform at a murder mystery dinner on Saturday to raise funds for the Education Foundation. Although the event is sold out, there are plenty of other ways to donate.
“Murder at the Rusty Spittoon Saloon” co-writer and director Shelly Arrenquin said guests can expect a lot of fun.
“There will be many funny pop culture references. Some actors will end up with gold, others will be pushing daisies,” she said. Lindhurst High School’s culinary program will serve food, including dessert that will be auctioned off.
Marysville Joint Unified School District Superintendent Gay Todd said this is the only fundraiser the school district will be hosting for the MJUSD Education Foundation this year. Since its beginnings in 2009, the foundation has raised more than $130,000 to fund teachers and school sites.
Funds generally cover curriculum enhancement programs and school projects that address parent and community needs or aid in hands-on learning.
A donation link can be found at www.mjusd.com, or at the Amazon Smile website where shoppers can donate 5 percent of the price of an item to a charity of their choice.
The performance is Saturday, March 24, at 6 p.m., at the Sutter County Veteran’s Memorial Community Building.
