Sri Lanka to bat first against South Africa

PALLEKELE, Sri Lanka (AP) — Sri Lanka captain Angelo Mathews won the toss Wednesday and decided to bat first against South Africa in the second one-day international of a three-match series.

Both teams kept the same starting lineups from the opening match in Colombo, which South Africa won by 75 runs.

Sri Lanka had been expected to bring in Thisara Perera given the better seam-bowling conditions expected in Wednesday’s match, but the allrounder did not make the lineup.

Sri Lanka: Tillakaratne Dilshan, Kusal Perera, Kumar Sangakkara, Mahela Jayawardene, Lahiru Thirimanne, Ashan Priyanjan, Angelo Mathews (captain), Nuwan Kulasekara, Sachithra Senanayake, Ajantha Mendis, Lasith Malinga.

South Africa: Quinton de Kock, Hashim Amla, Jacques Kallis, AB de Villiers (captain), JP Duminy, David Miller, Ryan McLaren, Vernon Philander, Dale Steyn, Morne Morkel, Imran Tahir.
