Aiken pastor charged in Spartanburg County in sexual assault case involving minor
A local pastor was charged in Spartanburg County in connection with a sexual assault investigation involving a teenager.
Lorenzo Renard Washington is charged with second-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor and third-degree criminal sexual conduct with a minor, according to Spartanburg County jail records.
Washington is the pastor of Mt. Hill Missionary Baptist Church in Aiken.
On Jan. 22, deputies with the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office responded to a Dorman High School athletic event in Spartanburg County and met with the teenage victim, according to the Spartanburg County Sheriff’s Office.
The victim claimed Washington “forced himself” onto her and touched her inappropriately before the athletic event began, police reported.
Following an investigation, Washington was arrested Friday and taken to the Spartanburg County jail, where he was released Monday on a $20,000 bond.
During his release, he must wear a GPS monitor, court records show.
